Revisions made to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual, version 5 (DSM5) include more emphasis on culture, race and language as these terms relate to diagnostic processes. This workshop will review the basic structure and organization of the DSM5 and its’ predecessors as well as more recent changes included in the DSM5-TR (text revised). Using case vignettes, participants will engage in assessing and diagnosing several disorders.

To earn CE credit, social workers must log in at the scheduled time, attend the entire course, and complete an online course evaluation. Certificates of completion will be emailed within 10 business days of course completion.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this webinar, participants will be able to:
  • Summarize changes made to the multi-axial system used in previous DSM versions
  • Compare and contrast subtypes and specifiers
  • Apply the changes made in the DSM5 to specific diagnoses through case studies
  • List at least three changes made to the DSM5-TR which reflect changes in language as they apply to ethnoracial descriptions
