Many immigrants living in the US have experienced unique stressors that have significantly shaped their lives. This interactive workshop will explore the myths about undocumented immigrants, leading to a better understanding of the immigration experience. The workshop will include case presentations and stories that will expand a service provider’s knowledge on immigrant populations and their journey. Participants will be introduced to the “Core Principles of Trauma Informed Care for Displaced Populations” and learn best practices and how to navigate through the challenges encountered in a therapeutic setting. As a result, service providers will have a better understanding of the immigration experience, the challenges and myths of undocumented clients, developing a greater ability to provide enhanced culturally competent services to the clients and families they serve.
