Successful step-parenting is often not intuitive and develops differently. Step or bonus families is a unique family structure with complex stressors and should have individualized goals and interventions to fit each family. This workshop describes the struggles blended families are faced with on a daily basis. Evidence-based models of treatment, applicable for those who work with individuals, couples, and/or families and interventions will be presented. There are also variations in stepfamily development and dynamics based on ethnicity that will be discussed. This webinar provides concrete strategies for meeting the challenges created by stepfamily structure: unhappy children, conflicts over parenting, difficulties with the step parent role, etc. [Elective for Child & Adolescent Certificate Program]
