Formerly titled: Complex Trauma in Children. This is a two-part webinar that provides an overview of the concept of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), the historical and contextual risk factors that set the stage for ACE’s, and the potential lifelong impact of ACEs. Complex Trauma has only recently been added to the International Classification of Diseases (ICD) and such trauma in children is often the result of multiple ACEs and toxic stress. There is a large literature on Developmental Trauma Disorder, the consequence ACEs and complex trauma in young children, but this has not yet been included in any diagnostic system. The lack of recognition of this condition is addressed, along with developing treatment models.
