Neurodivergence encompasses a wide range of neurological differences that influence how individuals think, communicate, learn, and experience the world. As awareness of neurodivergence continues to grow, social workers and other healthcare professionals are increasingly serving neurodivergent individuals across healthcare, educational, workplace, and community settings. Yet many professionals receive limited training in neurodiversity-affirming practices, creating barriers to effective care.
This webinar provides a practical introduction to neurodivergence and will provide information on common neurodivergent conditions, how neurodivergence presents across the lifespan, the impact of co-occurring mental health conditions, stigma, masking, and systemic barriers, and practical strategies to promote dignity, self-determination, and equitable care.
To earn CE credit, social workers must log in at the scheduled time, attend the entire course, and complete an online course evaluation. Certificates of completion will be emailed within 10 business days of course completion.
At the conclusion of this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Identify common conditions that are considered neurodivergent.
- Describe the impact of co-occurring mental health conditions, stigma, and masking on the experiences of neurodivergent individuals.
- Explain neuro-affirming strategies to promote effective communication, dignity, self-determination, and equitable care.
