9:30 am - 12:45 pm
Live Interactive Online Webinar
$0.00

This webinar is a CWT/Adoption 200 Series. This webinar is designed as an advanced level class for child protective service workers.  A variety of teaching methods including role play, small group activities, case presentations and videos are used in the course to enhance the lecture, allowing students to come away with a wider repertoire of professional tools that they understand in very experiential ways.   By the end of the webinar, participants will be able to: describe in detail the keys to families achieving successful adoptive placements,  the impact of disruption and dissolution on all members of the adoptive family,  discuss the opportunities that are afforded during the first meeting with the family and the importance of giving the family an individualized view of their child and  how crucial it is for families to have realistic expectations and how  understanding the impact of trauma is part of building those expectations. Participants will gain a greater understanding of  how empathy, attunement and vulnerability work to create strong connections with families for the good of the child. Additionally participants will gain greater knowledge on the  attachment cycle, how it plays in to supporting the adoptive placement, and the role of  continued birth family involvement.  Also addressed will be the  downfalls of anger whether parent to child or worker to parent.  Last participants will be able to identify a large list of alternative parenting techniques and nurturing activities that have proven to be successful for strengthening parent to child connections.
