Dr. Kodzovi Akpabli-Honu will be discussing the Trokosi system and the importance of understanding cultural traditions for effective intervention as it relates to impacting the well-being of girls and young women in Ghana, specifically among the Ewe people in the Volta region of Ghana. The importance of Queen Mothers and understanding important cultural traditions as it relates to social work intervention will also be discussed. This event is part of a research project on understanding the barriers to well-being related to the Trokosi system in Ghana as it relates to positive development outcomes among young girls and women in Ghana. This project is supported by an International Collaborative Research Grant funded through RU Global.
